Opportunity Center Positions

Employment Specialist/Vocational Developer

Promotes and develops employment and on-the-job training opportunities for disadvantaged applicants and students establishes relationships with employers regarding problems, complaints, and progress of recently placed individuals with disabilities Assists and instructs applicants in resume writing, job search, and interviewing techniques

 

Vocational Specialist, YTAP Program

Promotes and develops employment and on-the-job training opportunities for disadvantaged applicants and students. Establishes relationships with local school districts and with employers regarding problems, complaints, and progress of recently placed individuals with disabilities Serves as a program liaison between specific schools including attendance of ARD/IEP meetings

 

Program Specialist / Job Coach

Responsible for instructing and training adults with disabilities within a site-based program

Employment Specialist
Provides job placement opportunities with local employers. Meets the department's pre-determined goals of number of people placed and 90 day retention. Serves on the "Intake Committee" to ensure the best client/program fit. Collaborates with the Vocational Counselor in order to ensure success with placement and retention. Instructs clients in a classroom setting in the area of Job -Preparation and Job Skills. Provides one-on-one counseling with clients resulting in job placement and retention. Coordinates business contacts with other Opportunity Center programs. Represents the Opportunity Center in the community through participation in appropriate organizations, agencies and groups, and through the use of the media. Collects, interprets and disseminates relevant employment data and information. Adheres to all relevant operational and reporting requirements and standards of DARS. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Specifications

Bachelors Degree or equivalent. Must possess vehicle, insurance, Texas DL and excellent driving record. Prior sales and marketing experience preferred. Computer literacy and knowledge of MS Office required
