Patsy's Destiny Trail & Playground

Patsy's Destiny Wheelchair Accessible Nature Trail and Playground (Patsy's Destiny) is located on approximately 9 acres of property owned Bay Area Rehabilitation Center (the Center).  Open for use by the community, Patsy's Destiny features a wheelchair accessible 1/4-mile concrete trail that winds through a 7-acre wooded site adjacent to the Center's outpatient therapy clinic.  The trail includes numerous benches and gardens, as well as a round wheelchair accessible picnic table.

Patsy's Destiny also features a wheelchair accessible playground located on a 2-acre greenbelt in front of the Center.  Constructed by over 200 volunteers in one day and funded by The Home Depot, Evening Pilot Club of Baytown and numerous individual contributions, the playground features a wheelchair accessible playground superstructure, wheelchair accessible concrete pathways, a wheelchair accessible gazebo, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and numerous gardens.

Patsy's Destiny is named for Patsy Dowling, a long-time community advocate and volunteer for individuals with disabilities.  It has been funded locally by the City of Baytown (CDBG), by the State of Texas Recreational Trails Program, and nationally by both the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and the Hasbro Children's Foundation.
