Aquatic Exercise Classes
"As a person trying to recover from several severe back problems, I have been going to Bay Area Rehab for over 2 years. The pool is warm and soothing and everyone can exercise and visit. It is the best bargain in Baytown and maybe the whole area."

"My wife started water exercise in July 1996. The reason she started is because she was going to MD Anderson for Lymphoma and Osteoporosis. She was in so much pain that she had to use a wheel chair. The doctor told her the if she could find a place to get water exercise she could get more exercise in the water than she could elsewhere. She checked around and found Bay Area Rehab Center. They scheduled her to go three times a week for an hour each time. They have a lift that would lift her into the water and when she was done, she would sit back in the lift and I would sit in the wheel chair while she exercised. She got to know the people in the class and really enjoyed the fellowship. The water exercise helped her a lot. She improved enough that she was able to use a walker instead of the wheelchair. She would use the walker up to where the pool has an incline and walk into the pool. After exercise she could walk back to her walker and into the changing room. The changing rooms have showers where she could rinse off and change out of her bathing suit into regular clothes.
I joined her in water exercise at the end of July 1996, and have been going ever since. I have enjoyed the class and the people I exercise with. It has helped me to retain my health. In March of 2016, I had a knee replacement at 87 years old. I feel that my recovery was made easier due to my 20 years of water exercise. After two weeks, I went back to have the staples removed and was able to walk in using only a cane for balance. My doctor said I had done better than younger folks that had surgery the same time I did. The doctor credited my fast recovery to 20 years of water exercise I had been doing. I was not able to get back to water exercise for 6 weeks. I really missed going to water exercise and once I was released by the doctor, I went right back to class. I haven't had any trouble with my knee and I know that water exercise is the reason. I recommend these classes to anyone that wants to get in better shape or stay in shape. It doesn't matter how old you are or what shape you're in, these classes will make you feel better every day. I feel they have allowed me to continue getting around without any form of assistance. I will continue to attend class as long as I am able.
Thank you Bay Area Rehab for helping my wife get out of her wheel chair and for keeping me fit the past 20 years."

"Throughout my life of 60 something years, I have been a fairly healthy woman. This all came to an end in the Fall of 2014, when my body succumbed to a heart attack that I wasn't aware of until approximately a month after the attack. During this time of discovery of my heart problems, I also received other diagnoses and my body became very weak and pain ridden. I was literally at the point that I didn't feel like I would life much longer, or if I did, I would need assistance from family to take care of me. However, along with my faith in Jesus Christ; the care of my primary physician, Dr. Ali Jahan-Tigh and a team of many other medical professionals I can say today I am a totally different person.
In the Fall of 2015, I began taking water aerobics classes at Baytown's Bay Area rehabilitation Center. Since then, I have regained strength back in my entire body and look forward to my retirement days of traveling and being with my family.
I want to than the staff of Baytown's Bay Area Rehabilitation Cneter (BARC) for making these classes available. Keep up the excellent work!"
