HELP US CELEBRATE 75 YEARS OF MAKING DISABILITIES BECOME POSSIBILITIES!
In 1948 the parents of several children with Cerebral Palsy joined together to form an organization to get there children the outpatient occupational. physical, and speech therapy services.
Your financial support of our programs can assist individuals depending on our programs to live their best life. Click on the underlined links to learn more about each of these programs and how your contributions benefit those who depend on our services.
The focus of Bay Area Rehabilitation Center is to assist you to live your best life. Since 1948, the Center has done this by making disabilities become possibilities through our Outpatient Therapy Program which provides occupational, physical, and speech therapy services. The Center provided services exclusively to children with disabilities until 1995 when we began providing these services to adults as well. The quality of our outpatient therapy services have been recognized numerous times as we were named by the readers of The Baytown Sun as the 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Reader's Choice Award winner for Best Physical Therapy!
We are so much more than an outpatient therapy clinic, and we are equally proud of the other services we provide for those that reside in the greater Baytown and east Harris County areas. Other services provides by Bay Area Rehabilitation Center include:
Aquatics Exercise Program
Bay Area Rehabilitation Center provides aquatic exercise classes in our indoor 25 meter, heated therapy pool. The pool features a wheelchair ramp, a lift chair and an attached hot tub. Your contribution to the Aquatic Exercise Program can assist us in keeping classes at a reasonable cost for the primarily senior aged individuals, including some who are on fixed incomes, who participate in the program.
Aquatic exercise has many benefits for those who find it difficult to exercise on land, have limited mobility, or want to lose weight. the water helps to reduce joint and back pressure allowing clients to tone, strengthen and move with ease. Aquatic exercise also provides great benefit for those who have recently competed outpatient physical or occupational therapy services who wish to continue to gain strength and flexibility. Aquatic exercise is not covered by insurance or other funding sources.
The importance of this program is best stated by one of our longest participating aquatic exercise clients. "Thank-you Bay Area Rehab for helping my wife get out of her wheelchair and for keeping me fit the past 20 years."
Your contribution of $70 is equal to the cost for one month of aquatic exercise classes. Make sure you designate your contribution to the Aquatic Exercise Fund. Undesignated contributions will be placed in the General Operating Fund.

General Operating Fund
Contributing to the General Operating Fund allows Bay Area Rehabilitation Center to utilize your contribution in a way that meets the greatest current need of the Center. Our United Way funding has been reduced over the last few years as needs for other programs, as well as the United Way service area, has expanded. We have also encountered reductions in insurance reimbursements and government funding sources. The impact of the Covid 19 pandemic has placed additional financial stress on Center operations.
Your contributions to the General Operating Fund allow the Center to counter these reductions without a disruption or reduction in services provided to clients.

Creating Opportunities Scholarship Fund
The Opportunity Center Program provides adults with disabilities site-based services, day habilitation, vocational training, Home and Community Services, Texas Home Living, and job placement assistance. Participants are provided the tools necessary to become productive individuals allowing them a sense of empowerment and helping them to succeed socially in the community.
Did you know that while federal funding is available for participants to attend the Opportunity Center Program, the wait to be approved for this funding can range from 10-15 years? Without federal funding available many individuals in need of these services are unable to attend because families cannot afford the "self pay" option to attend.
Your contribution of $450 can provide a month of vocational training for an adult with disabilities. Make sure and designate your contribution to the Creating Opportunities Scholarship Fund. Undesignated contributions will be placed in the General Operating Fund.
