Mark A. Alexander is the Executive Director of the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center in Baytown, TX. A native resident of Baytown, Mark attended and graduated from Lee College of Baytown with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting and from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. In 2005 Mark earned his Master’s Degree of Arts from the University of Phoenix in the field of Organizational Management.  Upon graduation from the University of Houston, Mark worked in private accounting in Houston as an auditor for Arthur Anderson & Co. In 1988 Mark joined the US Air Force through the Officer Candidate Program and began his military career as a 2nd Lieutenant. Over the next 8 years Mark progressed through the ranks working in a number of operational positions, finally exiting the military with the rank of Captain in 1995.

After leaving the military Mark returned to the private sector and worked for two years as a compliance officer in a regional bank in northeast Texas.  When an opportunity was presented to return to the Baytown area in 1999 Mark took on the position of CFO in a small industrial supply company. During the next year another opportunity presented itself to move into the non-profit sector and in December, 2000 Mark accepted the position of CFO at Bay Area Rehabilitation Center. Working closely with the current Executive Director for the next few years Mark developed an understanding of the workings of the non-profit environment and in late 2005 when the CEO position became vacant, Mark was promoted to Interim Executive Director. Through the close of 2006 and early months of 2007 the Center was presented with an opportunity to bring on a struggling organization and as a result of the coordination efforts of Mark and the Board of Directors of both organizations, in May 2007 The Baytown Opportunity Center merged into Bay Area Rehabilitation Center, consolidating all operations into one organization. As a result of that process, Mark was promoted to Executive Director.

Since that time, Mark has worked to grow the organization and adapt to the constantly changing non-profit and healthcare worlds. Under his guidance, the Center continues to thrive as a unique and all-encompassing healthcare provider in the Baytown and surrounding area.
