How to Make a Contribution to Bay Area Rehabilitation Center:
In 1948 the parents of several children with Cerebral Palsy joined together to form an organization to get there children the outpatient occupational. physical, and speech therapy services.

The Center provided services exclusively to children with disabilities until 1995 when we began providing these services to adults as well. The quality of our outpatient therapy services have been recognized numerous times as we were named by the readers of The Baytown Sun as the 2016, 2019, 2020 and 2021 Reader's Choice Award winner for Best Physical Therapy!

General Operating Fund
Contributing to the General Operating Fund allows Bay Area Rehabilitation Center to utilize your contribution in a way that meets the greatest current need of the Center. Our United Way funding has been reduced over the last few years as needs for other programs, as well as the United Way service area, has expanded. We have also encountered reductions in insurance reimbursements and government funding sources.
Your contributions to the General Operating Fund allow the Center to counter these reductions without a disruption or reduction in services provided to clients.

Bay Area Rehabilitation Center (BARC) is proud to establish the Janie Lynn Henderson Abbott Scholarship Fund in honor of a women whose love, service, compassion, and unwavering support have been deeply woven into the BARC family for many years.
Janie has always believed in the importance of supporting individuals with disabilities and creating opportunities for children and families to thrive. Her relationship with BARC has been one of genuine love and commitment-not simply to an organization, but to the people and families we are privileged to serve.
For many years, BARC honored Janie by naming our walking trail after her. The trail became a meaningful part of our campus and a symbol of the connection between Janie and BARC. Although that portion of our property was eventually sold, we knew that Janie's legacy deserved to continue.
So, we gave her legacy a new place to grow.
The Janie Lynn Henderson Abbott Room
At Kids "ARE" Us, BARC's Special Needs Daycare Program, we have named one of our rooms, The Janie Lynn Henderderson Abbott Room.
This room will be a place where children with disabilities can learn, play, grow, build friendships, and experience the joy of simply being themselves in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment.
We chose this space because we believe it represents everything Janie has stood for throughout her relationship with BARC:
Love.
Inclusion.
Compassion.
Opportunity.
Possibility.
Every child who enters this room with be part of Janie's continuing story.
The Janie Lynn Henderson Abbott Scholarship Fund will help provide financial assistance to families who need support with the cost of care through our Special Needs Daycare Program. We know that caring for a child with disabilities can bring additional financial challenges for families. We do not want the cost of quality, specialized care to become a barrier for a child who needs it.

Creating Opportunities Scholarship Fund:
The Opportunity Center Program provides adults with disabilities site-based services, day habilitation, vocational training, Home and Community Services, Texas Home Living, and job placement assistance. Participants are provided the tools necessary to become productive individuals allowing them a sense of empowerment and helping them to succeed socially in the community.
Did you know that while federal funding is available for participants to attend the Opportunity Center Program, the wait to be approved for this funding can range from 10-15 years? Without federal funding available many individuals in need of these services are unable to attend because families cannot afford the "self pay" option to attend.
Your contribution of $450 can provide a month of vocational training for an adult with disabilities. Make sure and designate your contribution to the Creating Opportunities Scholarship Fund. Undesignated contributions will be placed in the General Operating Fund.
Outpatient Therapy Financial Assistance Program:
A contribution to the Outpatient Therapy Financial Assistance Program can assist those who are unable to afford services to receive the therapy services they require. Even with insurance, many cannot afford the co-payments to receive outpatient therapy services. For instance, a family with a child requiring therapy may require weeks, months, or even years of therapy services and cannot afford the co-payments to access their insurance.
Did you know that Bay Area Rehabilitation Center annually provides approximately $25,000 in financial assistance to those unable to pay for services?
Your contribution of $100 can provide access for up to a week of outpatient therapy for those who are unable to pay for services. Patsy's Destiny Wheelchair Accessible Playground:
Patsy's Destiny Wheelchair Accessible Playground (Patsy's Destiny) features a wheelchair accessible playground located on a 2-acre greenbelt in front of the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center outpatient clinic. Constructed by over 200 volunteers in one day, Patsy's Destiny received local funding from the City of Baytown (CDBG grant), The Home Depot, the Evening Pilot Club of Baytown, and numerous individual contributions. The project received national funding from the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation and the Hasbro Children's Foundation. Patsy's Destiny features a wheelchair accessible playground superstructure, wheelchair accessible concrete pathways, wheelchair accessible picnic tables and numerous gardens. Patsy's Destiny has been maintained yearly though volunteers participating in the United Way Days of Caring. Future goals include shade over the playground superstructure and additional equipment.
Patsy's Destiny is named for Patsy Dowling, a long-time community advocate and volunteer for individuals with disabilities, and is open for use by the community during all daylight hours. Patsy's Destiny is another way that Bay Area Rehabilitation Center works in assisting you to live your best life.
Your contribution can assist in future improvements and maintenance of Patsy's Destiny. Make sure and designate your contribution to Patsy's Destiny. Undesignated contributions will be placed in the General Operating Fund.

Bates Collision Centers will donate 3% of your repair total to Bay Area rehabilitation Center in your name. There is no limit and 3% adds up fast.

Simply go to the Bates Custom & Collision website and click on the Bay Area Rehabilitation Center box at the bottom of the page to print off your donation ticket. You must provide this ticket when you agree to services performed on your vehicle.
